The Wellington Cowboys again showed plenty of fight but it was the Nyngan Tigers who were cheering at full time at Kennard Park on Sunday.

The Tigers held off a fast-finishing Cowboys to score a 26-22 victory, the side’s first of the season.

Off-season recruits Benny Cokanasgia and James Fisk were among the try-scorers, with captain-coach Stewart Mills no doubt pleased his side bounced back from what he described as a “disappointing” loss to Macquarie in round one.

Meanwhile at Narromine, CYMS scored its second consecutive win but ddin’t have it all its own way against Narromine.

The young brigade led the way for the Fishies, Hamish Astill bagging a double while Hayden Howell, Ben Marlin and Wade Kavanagh also got across the line. Jyie Chapman was the other try scorer for CYMS in the 32-16 victory over the Jets. Alex Bonham booted four goals after playing for Western on Saturday.
