Bishop Graham Walden’s retirement at Dubbo was a period he used for writing, but for some time it seemed his efforts would remain unpublished.
Then this year his book, Self-knowledge: a challenge, became a reality when it was published by Barton Books.
Last month Dubbo Anglican parishioners, family and friends gathered for its launch, and the octogenarian author autographed copies.
Margaret Walden said it meant the world to her husband to have his book published.
“He’s absolutely delighted after years of hard work and then disappointment thinking [it wouldn’t be published], then with the help of Canon Brett Watterson having it accomplished,” she said.
“It’s one of the best things in his life.”
Funds raised from the sale of the book will go to the Brotherhood of the Good Shepherd, a mission close to the heart of Bishop Walden, a former bush brother.
