An astonishing amount of money will be injected into local Cancer Council programs thanks to an annual fundraiser that raised in excess of $160,000.

Eleven prominent people from the Dubbo community took part in Saturday evening’s black tie event, Stars of Dubbo – Dance for Cancer 2017. Over 430 people attended the night held at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre.
Each participant fundraised for the event which contributed $110,000 to the total figure. Damien Larnach was the highest fundraiser with $30,000, just edging out Ben Thomson with 28,000.
Community relations coordinator for Cancer Council, Katherine Hodges said the figure exceeded last year’s total by $50,000.
“Amazing, it was the best one that we’ve had so far, it was a really phenomenal event,” she said.
Star Alex Richardson-Bell took out the Judges Choice, while Jeniffer Fiore-Champan won-over the crowd for People’s Choice.
Katherine thanked the volunteers who ensured the evening ran smoothly, including organisers Karen Isbester, Caitlin Gray, Vanessa Smith, Ann-Maree Chandler organisers.
