The club will hold its annual Club Championships on Saturday, May 6 and Sunday, May 7, with singles, doubles mixed doubles and juniors likely to be contested.
After falling in straight sets in the A-grade singles final last year to Joel Scalzi, Williams is determined to do one better and if that involves casting aside his usual doubles partner, he is more than prepared to do that.
“I was pleased with how I played last year and to take out the doubles with Luke was great,” Williams said.
“But you always enter competitions to win and that is what I will be trying to do on Saturday in both the singles and doubles.
“Luke and I are great mates but come the singles competition my focus is to beat whoever is opposite me and if that is Luke then so be it.”

While Williams and McConochie are heavy favourites to progress through to the final of the singles, there are a number of other contenders such as Nathan Astri, Craig Taylor and Minh Voh who have the skill and experience to cause an upset.
In the B-grade division, Phil Wheeler will look to defend his triple crown of singles, doubles and mixed doubles titles.
This year, juniors will also have the opportunity to play in under 10s, 12s and 14s format, with numbers to dictate whether singles, doubles or both are played.
The tennis action will commence on Saturday morning from 8.30am with the open singles competitions followed by doubles that afternoon while the juniors will be played Saturday afternoon as well.
On Sunday morning the mixed doubles will be played.
Following the Club Championships, the club’s winter competition will commence on Monday, 15 May.
A combined A and B-grade will be played on Monday nights with combined B and C-grade being played on Wednesday nights.
All players interested in playing must register on the noticeboard in the clubhouse or to paramounttennis@live.com.au by a week prior to the competition.
