The ride started at Wiseman’s Ferry north of Sydney and traveled through Dubbo on the way to Canowindra.
Last year the ride raised about of $42,000 to support the RFDS South Eastern Section’s oral health service, and organiser Bill Patrick said he was hoping to reach the same target this year.
Mr Patrick said he had been lucky enough not to have been personally connected to the Royal Flying Doctor Service, but since he had taken over organising the ride and the Outback Car Trek, fundraising for the organisation had become his life’s work.
The money raised from the Outback Car Trek and the Bright Smiles Charity Ride has helped expand the dental health teams in Dubbo and Broken Hill with the purchase of a new dental van. The van allows the RFDS SE to offer dental health and education to remote communities in west and far west NSW.
