Toby Agustus Weekes, 32, of Molong, will face a two-day special fixture in Dubbo Local Court on October 17 and 19.
Mr Weekes is charged with using a carriage service to menace, harass or offend on August 12 last year at Dubbo.
He had previously entered a plea of not guilty in Orange Local Court.
On Wednesday when the case was mentioned before magistrate Gary Wilson to set a hearing date, a legal representative for Mr Weekes said her client was excused.
The matter would be a two-day special fixture, the lawyer said.
The prosecutor told the court the case had been assigned to a special prosecutor.
The defence confirmed George Thomas would appear as counsel for Mr Weekes at the hearing.
During the proceedings Mr Wilson said he knew the nature of the matter, “hence why it is a high-profile” case.
