Each club in the competition will be in action during the gala day that is sure to entertain and showcase some of the region’s most exciting young players.
But the day is also acting as a welfare day, with money being raised to help out those who have fallen on tough times or are going through hardship.
It has been a difficult 12 months for the Dubbo and District Junior Rugby League (DDJRL) and wider Dubbo community with teenagers Sam Fraser and Parker Watson both passing away while former junior and Macquarie back-rower Perry Meredith also passed away.
DDJRL president Neil Millgate said this weekend is a chance for the league community to get together and raise funds.
“We want to help people who are going through unfortunate things and get together and do something for junior rugby league,” he said.
“We’re hoping to put some dollars in a bit of a trust to help and be there for people going through these tragic things and hopefully be helpful.
“We’re hopeful it will go well and go towards good cases and help people.”
While the Fraser, Watson and Meredith families will all receive help from the fund, Millgate added it could even be used to help out young players who are required to have surgery, adding “insurance only goes so far”.
Money will be raised from gate admission on Saturday as well as raffles and the canteen while there will also be a number of health-related promotions being run throughout the day.
The day will also feature a new under 14s League Tag trial for female players.
