DUBBO cyclists Simone Grounds and Heather Ticehurst have won gold in their respective divisions at the NSW Masters Criterium Championships in Orange over the weekend.

The Dubbo ladies, along with Catherine Fuller, were a part of the squad that took bronze at the NSW Masters National Track Championships and narrowly missed the podium at the National Masters Track Championships in March.
Grounds took out the WMAS3 criterium, while Ticehurst was the winner of the WMAS2 event, with fellow Dubbo cyclists Jason Farr (8th MMAS3), David Gerrish (12th MMAS3), Mike Ticehurst (14th MMAS3), Max Newton (5th MMAS7) and Tim Hines (6th MMAS2) also contesting the event.
Dubbo Cycle Club had a number of riders test their legs against the state’s best Masters road racers on Saturday in the NSW State Masters road race at Molong.
Grounds was the best placed Dubbo rider on the day with a fifth 4th placings in the WMAS3 road race, with Catherine Fuller (6th WMAS3), Heather Ticehurst (6th WMAS2), Sarah Gordon (5th WMAS4), Max Newton (9th MMAS7), Bill Williamson (32nd MMAS4), Alex Russell (33rd MMAS4), Mike Ticehurst (MMS3) and David Gerrish (27th MMAS3) all taking part.
Grounds also finished second in the WMAS3 individual time trial on Monday, to add another medal to her lengthy list of cycling achievements. BRODIE Wheeler has taken out the second round of the Dubbo City Toyota Road Racing Series with a solid win in Saturdays 36km handicap race on the Burroway Road course.
Wheeler (10 minute handicap) scored his first win of the road season over Lachie Clark (+ 10 minutes), Zara Fuller (+10 minutes), Tony Simic (+10 minutes) and Matt Fuller (+13 minutes) filling the first five placings, with Maurice Ashford (+13 minutes), Ray Wheeler (+10 minutes), Mick Cooper (+16 minutes), Vaughn Eather (+16 minutes) and Haylee Fuller (+16 minutes) rounding out the top ten.
Wheeler completed the course in one hour one minute 51.700 seconds at an average of 34.54km/hour, while Haylee Fuller was the fastest female on the day, finishing in a time of 57 minutes 9.389 seconds (average speed 37.37km/hour).
Round three of the Dubbo City Toyota Road Racing series takes place next Saturday on the North Geurie course, with riders tackling 26km graded scratch races on the tough, undulating course.
Luke Ensor has had a solid return to form, finishing third in the overall general classification at the weekend’s Junior Tour of Sydney.
