- $860 to Tottenham Late Notes to purchase marching drums and conduct music workshops to support the ANZAC Day march and service

The Anzac Community Grants Program is a fantastic way to support organisations across NSW which are delivering projects in honour of our veterans. It is timely to receive an Anzac grant as we continue to commemorate the Centenary of Anzac and a century of service across the state.
BARWON TO HAVE A SAY ON ABORIGINAL LANGUAGES
A series of local community workshops on the development of Aboriginal languages legislation will be held in Barwon in May. NSW plans to be the first state in Australia to pass legislation recognising and protecting Aboriginal languages, to ensure that future generations can share and enjoy them. The proposed Aboriginal Languages Bill will acknowledge the first languages of NSW as vital to the culture and wellbeing of Aboriginal people, particularly across Barwon. The upcoming community workshops are an important opportunity for the people of Barwon to have their say on the development of this ground breaking legislation. Workshops will be held:
- Tuesday, 2 May: “Walanbaa Dhurali”, 114 Pandora St, Lightning Ridge
- Wednesday, 3 May: Diggers on the Darling, Bourke.
- Tuesday, 9 May: Wilcannia Community Hall, Myer St, Wilcannia
- Wednesday, 10 May: Ivory Room, Musicians Club, 276 Crystal St, Broken Hill.
All workshops will take place from 9.30am-1.00pm, with morning tea and light lunch provided. For more information, visit the Aboriginal Affairs NSW website at www.aboriginalaffairs.nsw.gov.au.
NOMINATIONS IN FOR REGIONAL TRAINING AWARDS
More than 43 nominations have been received for the Western NSW region’s annual celebration of the best local Vocational Education and Training (VET) talent. The Western NSW Training Awards is a fantastic opportunity for students, parents, employers, teachers and trainers to celebrate the very best VET talent we have.
Successful regional winners go on to compete at the State final in September, and the winners there go on to compete for NSW at the national titles. It's clear that more and more students, parents and employers are recognising the incredible value of vocational training in creating new and exciting pathways to rewarding careers and employment for people throughout the state.
These Awards represent the highest level of recognition for apprentices, trainees and the teachers who participate in VET and celebrate the outstanding effort that thousands of individuals, employers and training organisations put into VET each year in NSW. For more information on the awards, which will be held on 16 June, go to https://www.training.nsw.gov.au
