On Tuesday the trio with ties to the city performed important roles in the morning service as they paid tribute to the fallen.
Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Group Captain Francis Grigson delivered the Anzac address at Dubbo, a city in which he was stationed from 1989 to 1991.
He said he felt “extremely privileged” to be in Dubbo.
“It’s incumbent on those of us who are left to come here and remember the fallen,” he said.
“And it’s tremendous to see the citizens of Dubbo and surrounding areas come here and support the guys who march. The school kids, everything.”
Leading Seaman Kathleen Clifford of HMAS Harman, a former St John’s College student, was in the colour party.
“It’s a massive honour to come back and see my family standing in the crowd and being able to represent the navy in such a small country town,” she said.
RAAF Flight Sergeant Trish Withers was also a flag bearer, while her Dubbo born and bred mother Narrell Boys and aunty Coral Peckham watched on.
Flight Sergeant Withers said Anzac Day was a day to remember sacrifice.
“That those who gave their tomorrows did so for our todays,” she said.
