Funding to help in crime fight

The federal Justice Minister Michael Keenan has announced funding to help local communities fight crime.

Under the Safer Communities Fund, 71 organisations will share in around $9.5 million in the first round of funding.

Funding is provided to local communities where local crime and anti-social behaviour is a problem, Mr Keenan said.

It will be used to boost crime prevention initiatives with the installation of fixed and mobile CCTV or lighting.
