“We had three of our students dance this day and I was so proud of how they danced and represented NSW, our studio and Dubbo,” she said.
Anna Single received first place in the Private Lesson Gold and Above Standard Adult and second place in the Private Lesson Gold & Above New Vogue Adult. In the Adult Private Lesson Student Medallist events Senuri Perera received a first, second, third and fourth place.
The Under 15 Private Lesson Student Medallist events saw Rashmi Perera awarded a first, fourth and fifth place. The following day two couples from the local studio danced in the International Championship. It was Peter and Janice Rigg-Smith's very first competition and they danced in the Masters 3 C Grade Standard and won first place.
Joel Tongue and Cassandra Donnelly also showed off their moves and were awarded 7th place in the Adult Open New Vogue, 7th place in the Adult B Grade Standard and 11th place in Adult B Grade Latin.
The following week on April 15 and 16, they then all traveled to the Gold Coast for the the Queensland National DanceSport Championships held at the RACV Royal Pines Resort. Joel and Cassie received many awards during the event including second place in the Adult Open 10 dance (Standard/ New Vogue) competition.
Ms Tongue said it was one of the best events they have ever been too.
“The level of dancers was exceptional and for Joel and Cassie to make the prestigious Adult Open New Vogue final and be presented in the evening session was a thrill and highlight of the weekend,” she said.
“It has been a massive effort but I'm so very proud of my children and all of my students, they all just keep getting better and better. And we really do have such amazing results against Australia's very best dancers.”
