Fair coordinator Peter Bartley predicts another 2000 books will be donated before the eighth annual book fair opens to the public at St Brigid’s hall. He said they should be left at the hall between 9am and 5pm on May 5, “as there is no space left to store them”. " We have been staggered by the continued generosity of the book-loving public over the past 12 months in donating over 11,000 books already " Mr Bartley said.
Entry to the book fair from 8am to 4pm is by gold coin donation. Proceeds from the one-day fair go the the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Dubbo Base and cancer research. The book fair has raised more than $51,000 since its inception. Club members will be helped by RFDS supporters and the Dubbo Community Men’s Shed.
Mr Bartley said the fair would again feature a children's activity area, hot soup for sale and the “walk-out-the-door final hour where no offer is refused”.
