The 16 year old was not only named as Reserve Champion in the Beef Cattle RAS/ASC parader competition, but he was also named as the Champion RAS Youth Parader.
This is Sam’s third year in a row showing at Australia’s annual and largest ticketed event. Sam has been showing cattle since he was 6 years old.
I’ll keep trying and I’ll definitely be back next year
- Sam Parish
He won Champion parader at the Coonabrabran Show which enabled him to qualify at the 2017 Sydney Show. Although Sam’s dream of being named as Champion in the in the Beef Cattle RAS/ASC parader competition wasn’t to be this year, he said it won’t stop him competing at next years Show.
“I really wanted to win, but I’m so happy with my results… I’ll keep trying and I’ll definitely be back next year,” Sam said.
“There were so many competitors... It was one of the hardest years competing.”
Sam paraded with Hollywood Angus Stud, Peak Hill and said owner Lyn Frecklington was “stoked” for his results.
Sam said he couldn’t wipe the smile off off his face and that his parents were probably just, or if not more excited for him.
“They’ve been so supportive ever since I first started (showing cattle)… they love it just as much as me,” he said.
