The myDubbo card launched in the CBD in December 2016 by the Dubbo Ignite initiative and was a huge success, with over 50 retailers taking part.
The myDubbo cards work through EFTPOS and can now be used at selected Orana Mall stores, as well as Dubbo Tyre and Battery, Snares Newsagency on Talbragar Street and at both of the We Know Travel agencies in Macquarie Street and Orana Mall.
Orana Mall centre manager Tracey Redden said it was an exciting opportunity and when she heard that the myDubbo card was being extended she immediately jumped on board.
“We have got 10-12 business signed up and I know other businesses are interested so I’m hoping they will join. It’s giving retailers the opportunity to get more customers through their doors. It also supports local businesses and helps build a bridge with DRC,” she said.
We Know Travel’s Kerin Stonestreet said it was a winner to join.
“Anything to promote local spending in the town is a great thing,” Ms Stonestreet said.
Dubbo Chamber of Commerce adn Industry president Matt Wright said it was great to see it extended to Orana Mall.
“There’s a lot of money spent at Orana Mall … so we see this as a real positive display of commitment, not only from DRC, but retailers at Orana Mall to see that it is working and to take the myDubbo card on,” Mr Wright said.
Ignite Program Co-ordinator Nicola Chandler said the myDubbo card is the perfect way to support local businesses and help Dubbo grow.
“Simply visit a Load Up Store, decide how much money to load onto the card and this money can then be used to purchase goods and service at any participating business,” Ms Chandler said.
“The cards cannot be redeemed outside of the participating store network. The list of participating businesses will grow and this program will be ongoing well into the future.”
