The CYMS young gun has been piling on the runs for NSW Green at the national tournament and has helped them to a place in the semi-finals, where they will play the hosts, Queensland, on Saturday.
“It’s the best cricket I’ve played,” Dubbo College’s Larance said of the standard.
“The bowlers are hitting a length time after time and there’s good spinners but they’re good decks here so that evens it up.”
Larance has made scores of 95, 11, 53 and 44 not out so far before Friday’s play was washed out.
While his 95 was one of the standout scores of the tournament, his unbeaten 44 from 49 balls against Victoria Country was one of the most important knocks.
After losing to South Australia on day two, NSW Green bowled the Victorians out for 104 and then needed to reach the target for the loss of four wickets or less to seal top spot in the pool.
Larance, who finished the premier RSL-Whitney Cup regular season as the leading run-scorer, and Nikethan Radhakrishnan came together with the score at 4-40 but together saw the side home.
“It’s been good to play against people at the top level,” he said.
“It’s been tough at times but you’ve just got to push through.
“It’s just been seeing the ball and hitting the ball and I’ve just been doing as much as I can to get the side home, which has been good.”
In terms of the semi-final on Saturday, rain could have an effect again after Brisbane copped the edges of storms created by Cyclone Debbie late in the week.
But both NSW sides, Green and Magenta are through to the semi-finals and a chance of meeting in the national decider.
“We’re looking good and if it’s washed out, which could happen, we’ll both go straight through but hopefully we can just play our best cricket and win through,” Larance said.
“Then we might play the other NSW side and that would be a real grudge match.”
The semi-finals begin at 10am on Saturday with Larance’s NSW Green side taking on Queensland at the Brisbane Grammar 1 ground.
The final will be played from 10am on Sunday.
