Neighbours have raised objections to the development due as the proposed new dwelling would look directly into their living room. Further concerns were raised about the new fence of the development, and how it should provide a greater buffer between the two properties as initially designed.
The development application was for a 535.5 metre-squared lot at the front of the site where the existing house is located and a second lot at the back of the site for a three-bedroom single storey house.
In a submission to council against the proposal, one nearby resident said it was an over development of the site, placing a greater burden on the surrounding areas established amenity and it significantly impacted the history and value of the current residence.
However, the development was approved at the March Ordinary Meeting of Council by administrator Michael Kneipp.
Mr Kneipp added an additional condition to the approval that stated the driveway should be surfaced with an all-weather seal an it should be formed and drained to the Tamworth Street kerb and gutter system without redirection to the detriment of adjoining properties.
A controversial development for a 30-lot residential subdivision on Wellington Road was also given the green light by council, despite Yarrawonga Estate residents saying Peel Place was unable to handle the increased traffic.
However, an assessment of the traffic done by RMS said the road could handle the increased amount of traffic.
