ADAM Mitchell has taken out the inaugural Dubbo Cycle Club Strade Bianche 50km handicap race at Geurie on Saturday.

The Dubbo strongman was very impressive in winning the race by over six minutes, especially considering he started with a handicap of 27 minutes and 30 seconds.
The win continues a strong season from Mitchell, who is one of the most exciting prospects to come out of the extremely strong Dubbo club.
The tough 50km course located on a combination of sealed and unsealed roads south of Geurie proved to be a war of attrition, with 10 of the starting 24 riders succumbing to mechanical issues or multiple punctures, which ended their respective races.
Mitchell covered the course in one hour, 25 minutes and 28 seconds, at an average speed of 35.17 kilometres per hour.
David Gerrish (23 minute handicap) finished second, with Alex Russell (20 minutes) in third ahead of Mick Ticehurst (26 minutes) and Brodie Wheeler (7 minutes).
Haylee Fuller was the fastest female on the course, completing the race in on hour 48 minutes and 54 seconds at an average speed of 27.60 kilometres per hour.
Dubbo Cycle Club will be strongly represented at this weekend’s Bathurst Cycling Festival, with a number of riders contesting the NSW Hill Climb Championships, Bathurst Criteriums and the extremely popular Blayney 2 Bathurst cyclo-sportiff.
Haylee Fuller was the winner of the under-15 women’s NSW State Hill Climb championships last year and the diminutive rider will again look take state honours.
With the track season at its end, the time has come to focus on road racing, and the first round of the Dubbo City Toyota Road Racing Series will be contested on Saturday 8th April with a 38km handicap race on the Mogriguy road course.
A week late the annual Easter Bars Classic will take place on Saturday 15th April at Wongarbon.
Prior to both of those events the Dubbo Cycle Club will hold its annual Track Presentation Night on Friday 7th April at Club Dubbo.
The club will award the grade premierships and club champions as well as the coveted Percy Dawson Memorial Points Score Champion, which is in now in its 50th year.
