The season came to a close with RSL-Colts defeating South Dubbo by just four runs in a RSL-Whitney Cup thriller while the club also won the RSL-Pinnington Cup courtesy of a mauling of Rugby.
The RSL-Kelly Cup grand final was also a classic match as it finished in an enthralling tie, with CYMS White lifting the silverware after finishing as minor premiers.
“It was a fantastic end to the season,” Shanks said, before speaking about the season as a whole.
“As a board we’re very happy with how it played out this season and we’ve had lots of positive feedback as well, which is pleasing.”
The board will come together in the next month to conduct a review of the season before the planning starts for next summer.
The biggest thing for the DDCA to get done during the off-season is to implement a hot weather policy after one round of this season was abandoned due to extreme highs of 46 degrees, while the matter of 40 or 50 overs one-day matches in first grade will also be discussed.
But other than that it will only be minor tinkering to what Shanks feels is a competition in a good place.
“It’s obviously been set up well for a number of years and it’s very settled,” he said.
“Overall we’re really happy with the season.”
