According to CYMS White captain Marty Nelson, he has already achieved a grand final winning feel having seen his club put forward two third grade sides this season and give a host of young players the chance to play senior cricket.

Nelson will lead his side into the RSL-Kelly Cup decider at No. 3 Oval on Saturday with the Cougars meeting Rugby Red.
Rugby Red defeated the minor premiership winning CYMS White side just two weeks ago in the major semi-final and while keen to reverse that result, Nelson said there is much more to third grade than winning and losing.
“It will be tough, they’ve got a bit of experience,” Nelson said, pointing to the likes of Rugby captain Wayne Munro, someone he describes as “fantastic”.
“But it’s always good fun and to me it’s all about us bringing the kids up.”
CYMS White and Rugby Red are similar in the fact they are led by an experienced core, the Cougars have Ben Williams and Shawn Townsend as well as Nelson, mixed with a number of promising up-and-comers.
The likes of Braye Porter, Gilbert Chaseling and Connor Watts have impressed for the Cougars while each of Nelson, Williams and Townsend have enjoyed the privilege of playing alongside their sons each and every week.
Rugby Red enjoyed the week off after winning the major semi while CYMS White got passed clubmates CYMS Green to set an eagerly anticipated rematch.
“Last time was a good game of cricket but we’ll be ready this time,” Nelson said.
“Last time it was different on turf and it was good to have that one more week to change the mentality a bit because before we thought we could play like we did on synthetic.”
