That’s the feeling within the camp heading into the second grade decider against a Rugby side which has hit top form at the right time of the season.
RSL-Colts overcome a mid-season run of three straight losses to claim the Pinnington Cup minor premiership, with a number of players with first grade experience playing key roles.
“We’re very lucky in that regard,” opening batsman Matt Keenan said.
“It’s good to have that experience backs in twos and the experience they bring is massive and they can also help the younger fellas coming through.”
Keenan is one of the players who has been on the scene for some time, having started the season in first grade while the likes of captain Josh Smith, Shane Groen, Nathan Finlay and Geoff Wheeler all provide plenty of experience and talent.
“He (Smith) has played a lot of first grade so it’s good to have a bloke like that as captain,” Keenan said.
“In previous years the captain has played a bit of first grade but he put his hand up to steer the ship and stay in the grade.”
Keenan pointed to a disciplined bowling performance as the key, with Rugby having scored more than 250 the past four times it has batted.
Glenn Shepherd, Lachlan Harper, all-rounder Nick Karydis and seamer Adlai Shipp will all be key for a confident Rugby side.
“Our depth is big and we bat a fair way down too but it’s about putting it together on the paddock,” Keenan said.
Plays begins at 1pm.
