ICA’s general manager of communications and media relations, Campbell Fuller, said most insurers will fund the asbestos removal “up to a cap” for policyholders affected by the Sir Ivan Fire in the NSW Central West.
“The ICA and its members are working with the Warrumbungle Shire Council and the NSW Government to minimise the cost of the asbestos clean-up to preserve the maximum amount of money for rebuilding, replacing and repairing policyholders’ assets,” he said.
He said council tip fees alone can run into tens of thousands of dollars for each property.
