The Waratahs have endured a sluggish start to the Super Rugby season and the side is desperate for a win against the Melbourne Rebels.
Dubbo Kangaroos junior Robertson has been a mainstay in the side early on and will be in the starting side again at Melbourne, despite head coach Darren Gibson making a plethora of changes.
Gibson had made six positional changes, all in the backline, as his side chases just its second win of the season.
"At the moment, that backline's not clicking so we decided we had to make those changes in search of a better outcome," Gibson said.
Israel Folau reverts to fullback from inside centre while flyhalf Bernard Foley returns from concussion, Rob Horne moves to outside centre and former fullback Andrew Kellaway joins Reece Robinson on the wing.
Joe Gordon will also debut at scrumhalf.
Gibson was also hopeful switching Folau back to the number 15 jersey, where he started his rugby journey, will bring rewards.
"In his last two games, he is really getting it (at No.13). But the big picture is that combination as it stood wasn't working," Gibson said.
"The opportunity he has had to play up front has made him a better player, I believe.
"He has more tools in his kit bag now, in terms of seeing the game."
Kick-off is at 7.45pm on Friday night.
