Just after 3pm, a 14-year-old boy was bushwalking with a group of people south of Mount Solitary (about three kilometres west of Katoomba).
During the walk the boy fell about 30 metres.
A beacon was activated and officers attached to Blue Mountains Police Rescue Squad and NSW Ambulance paramedics commenced searching for the boy.
About 6pm, an Ambulance helicopter successfully winched the boy to safety.
He was taken to Randwick Children’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, while the remainder of the group he was walking with were safely walked from the area.
This incident has prompted police to remind anyone entering the bush to think before you TREK.
