Excitement about the $1.37 million win was evident on social media on Monday after NSW Lotteries appealed for people to check their tickets.
“Jesse Grant please tell me you’ve been secretly buying lotto tickets?” Dani Grant said in a post to the story on the Daily Liberal’s Facebook page.
But by Tuesday morning, the third day after the draw, the person with the lucky numbers was yet to come forward, NSW Lotteries spokesman Matt Hart said.
The winning ticket was sold by Dubbo’s Talbragar Street Newsagency.
The ticketholder was not registered, so NSW Lotteries has no way of contacting them.
“We’re putting the call out to help track down our missing millionaire and share the happy news with them,” Mr Hart said.
“The winning ticket may have been stashed away for safekeeping in the car, the kitchen or even the sock drawer.
“If you purchased an unregistered entry in Saturday Lotto in Dubbo, check your ticket as you could be our millionaire.”
Talbragar Street Newsagency owner Peter Snare said on Monday lots of people had come in to check their tickets, “all wanting to know if it’s them”.
He said it was the 40th win from a ticket sold by Talbragar Street Newagency in 33 years.
“That’s not bad - better than one a year,” he said.
“And so far all our winners have been local, so here’s hoping.”
