The Tigers currently sit fourth, three points adrift of the all-important third place and on Saturday they will look to defend last week’s total of 201.
Newtown had its tail thank thank last week, with Dale O’Donnell and Troy Tracey adding 59 runs for the final wicket.
That gives the bowlers something to defend this weekend but they will still need to be at their very best against the South Dubbo batting lineup.
Despite the batting power, the Hornets won’t be at full strength with Will Lindsay away at Bowral on NSW Country duty while captain and leading batsman Mitch Bower may be in doubt with the birth of his second child imminent.
Despite that, there is still plenty of talent to call on, with the likes of Henry Railz, Adam Wells, Greg Rummans, Mark O’Donnell and John Colwell all name din the side.
A victory for South Dubbo would all but seal finals cricket and almost ensure a top two finish.
For the Tigers, new ball bowlers Mat Skinner and Baily Edmunds will again be key, as they have nee all season.
Edmunds has a happy knack of taking early wickets and if he is to do that on Saturday he will give his finals-chasing side an almighty boost. Steve Skinner, Troy Tracey and O’Donnell are other frontline bowling options certain to get through some overs.
