The Moscow Ballet’s La Classique will perform Swan Lake twice in Dubbo, and already anticipation is high with almost sold-out shows.
Speaking through a translator, artistic director Elik Melikov said the ballet would take the audience on an emotional journey.
“People going to the theatre will enjoy a show that will touch them… it will invoke feelings in both adults and children who are waiting for a fairytale,” Mr Melikov said.
Mr Melikov founded Moscow Ballet’s La Classique in 1990. In 2000 the company bought the Nutcracker to Australia, followed by Sleeping Beauty in 2011.
Now the artistic director said the company were performing the third ballet composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s as “even the smallest companies in the smallest city will perform Swan Lake”.
The two-act ballet will feature lavish costumes, magnificent stage sets and tragic story of Odile and Odette.
