TALENTED young rider Isabelle Russell has staked her claims ahead of next week’s NSW under-9 to 13 state championships with a masterful display of riding during Tuesday night’s Dubbo City Toyota Track Racing Series.

Russell won both junior division one scratch race as well as the two-lap handicap, while Trent Hines took out the four lap handicap, narrowly defeating Russell.
Hamish Murphy and Jarryd Fuller shared the victories in the junior development division over Zoe and Darcy Shanks and Ella Mann, while last years under-9 state champion Emily Hines recorded another three wins in the junior division two races, with Chris Gilbert scoring a win as well.
Super tots and tiny tots riders Cooper Farr, Blake Lambourne, McKenzie Murphy, Aikie Wrigley, Sophie Mann, Jasmine Fuller and Duke Richardson were very impressive in their events and have improved exponentially throughout the season.
Chris Couper (six and 15 lap scratch races) chalked up two solid wins in A-grade, with Timmy Hines (two lap handicap) and Jason Farr (four lap handicap) also topping the podium, as Mick Ticehurst finished with four minor placings along with Farr, Hines and Couper.
Mick Harvey (two lap handicap) and Sam Fitzgerald (six lap scratch race, four lap handicap and 15 lap scratch race) took out the four B-grade races as well as recording a minor placing as Justin Books, Dave Gerrish and Alex Russell also finished in the placings.
Youngsters Lachie Clark (five lap scratch race and three placings) and Mitch Hines (two and four lap handicaps and two placings), as well as Bill Williamson (six lap scratch and one placing) were the C-grade victors and placegetters with Heather Ticehurst scoring a minor placing as well.
Jason Canobie, Simon Murphy, Haydon Carroll and Lauren Fuller shared the D-grade wins, with Helen Hines, Murphy, Canobie and Carroll all recording placings as well.
The final round of the Dubbo City Toyota Track Racing Series will be held next Tuesday evening at Victoria Park No. 1 Oval however Dubbo Cycle Club will be conducting a madison event on Tuesday 7th March to close the track season.
The madison is an exciting race where teams of two riders interchange by hand slinging each other in and out of the race and contest intermediate sprints for points during the race.
The rescheduled Dubbo Track Open and NSW State under 9 to under 13 track championships, which had to be postponed due to the excessive heat in early February, will be held at Victoria Park No. 1 Oval on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th March.
The event will draw some of the most exciting young talent in the NSW cycling ranks to the Dubbo track, which has a reputation as being one of the best racing surfaces outside the city areas
Meanwhile, Dylan and Kurt Eather, Haylee Fuller and Danny Barber are presently contesting the National Junior Track Championships at Sydney’s Dunc Gray Velodrome and are all realistic chances of finishing on the podium throughout the event.
