Orana police will be at Lavish Cafe from 10am with a view to hearing from the community.
NSW Police Minister and Member for Dubbo Troy Grant and Orana Commander Acting Superintendent Scott Tanner are encouraging participation in the annual event.
Acting Superintendent Tanner said Coffee with a Cop was a “great opportunity to come and meet your local police, have a cuppa on us, and chat about anything”.
“There is no fixed agenda and community members are free to discuss whatever they want, ask us questions, or get some advice on problems they may have,” he said.
“They can also provide us with information if they wish.”
Mr Grant said the state government wanted to make sure that community members felt able to approach police.
“Unfortunately, the majority of contact we do have with our police is during times of emergency or distress, and this is not an optimal time to build relationships,” he said.
“Coffee with a Cop provides an informal and neutral setting for the community to come together and discuss issues that matter to them with our local police.”
Mr Grant said Coffee with a Cop had taken off across NSW.
“People across the state should take advantage of this day to speak to their local men and women in blue who work tirelessly to keep us safe,” he said.
A “successful” Coffee with a Cop was staged by Orana police at Dubbo’s Orana Mall in 2016.
