La La Loopsy opened as a $3 favourite on Thursday and he been heavily backed since.
“...all the early money has been for the $3 favourite La La Loopsy, with the lightly raced five-year-old winning her last two races with big weights.” TAB’s Glen Munsie said at the time.
By lunchtime on Friday La La Loopsy, to be ridden by Mathew Cahill, was into $2.50. Of the other hopes, the Cecil Hodgson-trained A Magic Zariz was the next best at $7 while Frank Hayes’ Tibidabo was an $8 chance and the Justin Stanley-trained Coming In Hot was at $11.
A Magic Zariz is coming off an impressive second at Mudgee, where he stormed home later after being stuck in traffic.
Daniel Northey was onboard that day and he will be in the saddle again on Sunday, where the four-year-old gelding will jump wide out from barrier 13.
A Magic Zariz has scored three wins and two placings from eight starts.
Gates open for Sunday’s meeting, a showcase meeting with minimum prizemoney per race being $30,000, at 12pm with the first of nine races at 12.25pm.
