The highly-anticipated event will be staged at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre on Saturday night, February 18. It’s the first time the awards have been held outside of Canberra since its inception in 1994.
Organisers from Canberra arrived in Dubbo on Wednesday to complete the final details of the black-tie event.
They have been working closely with the staff at Dubbo to ensure the night runs precisely to plan.

Dubbo Theatre manager, Linda Christof, predicts it to be a sell-out.
“It’s absolutely exciting because it’s essentially similar to the “Oscars” – it’s very blitzy and recognises the amateur performance industry in NSW,” she said.
“The fact that Dubbo Theatre Society have won awards in the past makes it all the more exciting because they’ve also been nominated for various categories for 2016.”
She said a giant effort has been required from all involved, particularly the Canberra-based organisers working to shift the event to Dubbo.
“They’re basically transferring that whole production, and network connections to Dubbo to hold it at the Dubbo Regional Theatre,” Linda said.
“It’s a really broad NSW base that’s connected to the CAT Awards, and I know there’s a number of hotels that’re booked out with visitors to Dubbo.”
Local nominations for the following categories include Dubbo Theatre Company, Godspell – Best Orchestra; Jackson Gibb for singing and ensemble work – Patricia Kelson Encouragement Award; and Allyn Smith as Jesus in Godspell – best actor in a leading role in a musical.
The awards will kick off with a VIP function in the Oxley Room from 5.15pm, which according to Linda will involve guests arriving via the red carpet.
They will meet and greet celebrities including John Wood and Toni Lamond.
The night commences at 6pm with dance performances, skits, comedy and awards on show.
