The former civic leader made the trip to Queanbeyan to take part in the rally, which culminated outside the office of NSW Nationals leader and deputy premier John Barilaro.
“There would have been more than 200 people there from all over the state,” Mr Dickerson said.
“They were good, honest people who are frustrated by the amalgamations and wanted their opinions heard.
“Unfortunately John Barilaro himself wasn’t there to listen to the speeches that people made but the organiser of the rally, John Knight, has been able to get a meeting with him, which is a step forward.”
The topic of council amalgamations has been back in the news after it was revealed the government was considering a move to reverse mergers that had not already taken place, and have plebiscites in regions that had already combined, such as Dubbo and Wellington.
