Toronto is expected to reach a top of 34 degrees on Saturday, with the entire state to be swept by extreme, above-average temperatures over the course of the weekend.
The Knights club made the call to abandon the pre-season fixture, on Friday morning, as a result.
The clash was to be the first official hit-out for the new-look Rams under 23s squad, following on from two successful training runs in Manildra in the last fortnight.
Rams regional manager Peter Clarke said he and coach Darren Jackson would look into the possibility of rescheduling the match – the Knights under 20s begin their season on March 5 against the Warriors in New Zealand.
“Over the next few days Western Rams will assess the pre-season schedule, and look at the feasibility for either re-scheduling the game against the Knights or organising another trial,” he said.
The divisional trials will be held at Dubbo’s Caltex Park on April 22.
The opening round of the championships are against Monaro on May 13 at Cowra.
