In steamy conditions, Blue won the toss and opted to bat.
Openers Blake Smith and Will Dennis came up against some very tidy bowling from Dugald Shepherd and Josh Bywater and the latter removed Smith in the fourth over.
Josh Townsend fell lbw to Dudley Shepherd and then Dennis was caught by Hugh Sienkiewicz off Kuber Thakur to leave the Blue side 3/20 in the 10th over.
Anthony Atlee and Lockie Rummans took the score along to 40 before a Sean Duggan throw caught Rummans short of his crease. Harrison Quinn joined Atlee, taking the score to 79 with some aggressive stroke play and setting things up for the final 10 overs.
Dugald Shepherd returned to remove Quinn for 16 and Thakur came back to remove Atlee for a well compiled 42. His knock showed improved patience and application along with some nice stroke play.
Blue captain Rory Madden finished off the innings in style finding the boundary five times in his 30 not out.
There was some excellent ground fielding from the White team resulting in three runouts in the final overs, restricting the Blue side to 121
Thakur finished with 2/18 from his five overs while Shepherd claimed 1/12 off six.
Set 121 for victory, the White team came up against a fired up Rory Madden.
White openers Jack Byrne and Charlie Tink had their work cut out for them and handled the moving ball well. After taking the brunt of Madden’s spell and doing the hard work, Byrne was caught behind by Billy Whillock off change bowler Harrison Quinn.
Jack Fuller joined Tink at the crease and despite further pressure from the Blue bowlers they toughed it out with Hyde, Peet and the particularly impressive Lochlan George, from Wellington, all hitting great lengths.
It took a great piece of fielding from George with a direct hit to dismiss Tink for a well compiled 26.
Fuller continued to work hard in increasing heat and started to strike the ball nicely, hitting through the off side while working quick singles to the leg side. Dudley Shepherd joined Fuller to take the score to 87 when Shepherd was bowled by Noah Brien. White’s captain Hugh Sienkiewicz (25 not out) came to the crease needing a run a ball and despite an early scare found the boundary regularly and together with Fuller, who remained 42 not out, chased down the total to grab the win.
There was plenty of improvement shown and the match, in hot conditions, was played in good spirit.
