The institute’s Business Capability Unit Director Brad Polak said 50 subsidised places would be available after TAFE Western successfully secured funding under the Federal Government’s Endeavour Mobility Grants Scheme Program.
Mr Polak said students who enrolled in a Certificate IV or Diploma level course in Nursing, Business and Management, Welfare, Children’s Services and Society and Culture sections in 2017 would be eligible to apply to participate.
“We are absolutely delighted to be able to offer these exhilarating, once-in-a-lifetime learning opportunities to TAFE Western students in Dubbo and the local region,” he said.
“Our Outbound Mobility Program is extremely popular with our students, and we’re really pleased to be able to increase the number of participants to 50 in 2017, after 40 went to China last year and 20 went in 2015.
“This year we’ll also create history by sending 10 students to work and study at Centurion University of Technology and Management in India – the first time we’ve ever sent students to that country.”
Mr Polak said the trip to China in April would be the first in the program trip for 2017, with Nursing (May), Welfare (September) and Children’s Services (October) to follow. The Society and Culture trip to Centurion University is in November.
“These study trips really are amazing learning opportunities for our students. They get to develop important and unique techniques while soaking up an entirely different culture.
“Feedback from previous students who have participated in the Outbound Mobility Program has been really positive. They particularly enjoy the challenge these trips provide, and love bringing a better knowledge back to Australia.”
Mr Polak said applications for this year’s program were now being accepted. For more information visit www.tafewestern.edu.au/OMP, phone 6393 5913 or email witinternational@tafensw.edu.au
