Some new innovations in the lower grade competitions will add plenty of interest.
The Great Northern C Grade 8-a-side competition will see each batting team have two maxi overs to be used. In these overs all runs scored will double but there is also great risk as all wickets will incur a penalty of -10 during those overs.
Teams will play quarters, batting eight overs, fielding 16 and then batting the final eight.
Batsmen will also be able to try and summon their inner Chris Lynn or Brendon McCullum and stand and deliver. Batsmen do not have to run 6s – a change from the normal rules.
The Big Bash League has created plenty of excitement and players can now have a bash at Sportsworld, and the best part of it is players doin’t need to train or stand out in the heat while enjoying the match.
It is just an 80 minutes match each Tuesday or Thursday with drinks also available at the bar.
Anyone is welcome to play, whether it be a team of workmates, friends or family, anyone can enter a team and take part in the new and exciting formats of play.
