The game was as good as over after Rugby Red’s opening partnership, with Brett Paul (42) and Ben Rosenbaum (28) adding 71 runs together.
Shafkat Malik (3/16) bowled well for the Souths but Ross Horrocks (26 not out) helped his side score a simple win.
Tight bowling and an unbeaten half century to Mike Coward helped RSL-Colts Red defeat Macquarie Blue and remain equal second.
The Colts Red bowlers restricted Macquarie Blue to 8/150 from 40 overs before Coward made 64 not out as the target was reached with six wickets in hand.
Ray Cusack (30), Shayne Wilesmith (25) and Babu Radhakrishnan (20) all made starts for the Blues but no one could kick on, while Wayne Cole (2/18) was Colts’ best with the ball.
After Pat Cuskelly (5) departed early in the chase, Coward and Glenn Armstrong (41) led the side towards the target with a 112-run partnership. Lachlan O’Malley (2/15) struck but Colts Red still cruised to victory.
A blasting half-century to Irfan Sagri and an unbeaten 45 from Jacob Coggan helped RSL-Colts White score a thrilling win over Macquarie White.
Justin Gavin made 74 not out and Matt Taylor scored 52 as Macquarie White piled on an impressive 3/230. Despite the imposing target, Sagri smashed 61 inside 15 overs before Mick Davis (33) and Coggan then kept the runs ticking over.
Macquarie White made inroads but Kane Olney (25 not out) gave Coggan great support as Colts won with nine balls spare.
