Emergency services were called to Burns Bay Road, Lane Cove West, about 1.40pm after the accident, which involved three cars.
A NSW Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said, "We were called to a three-car motor vehicle accident, with vehicles involved on both sides of the road. We had two trucks on the scene after two people were stuck in their cars due to their injuries, but they have been rescued."

A NSW Ambulance spokesman said, "We have treated one patient with minor injuries, and a woman was briefly trapped due to back injuries, but both patients have been transported via ambulance to Royal North Shore Hospital."
Photographs show a CareFlight helicopter landed at the scene to treat the injured.
Both sides of Burns Bay Road were closed to traffic, before NSW Fire and Rescue deemed the area safe and roads were reopened just after 3pm.
