After registering a draw and a defeat in its opening two matches the Blues, featuring Dubbo’s Emma Corcoran, Phoebe Bloink Hollier and Courtney Hogan, eased past the ACT on Wednesday night before scoring a comfortable 3-1 victory over Western Australia on Thursday afternoon.
The NSW side needed a win when it took on the side from the nation’s capital on Wednesday night but the match had a far from ideal start as ACT struck in the very first minute.
But the Blues weren’t rattled and hit back almost immediately, with Emma O’Brien scoring before she had to depart the court following a rolled ankle eight minutes later. NSW led shortly before half time and two further strikes after the break sealed the 4-1 victory.
NSW started much better in Thursday’s match against Western Australia, taking the lead after nine minutes. By the time Tamworth’s Emily Chaffey, who played for Dubbo at the state titles, scored eight minutes into the second stanza it was all but over at 3-0.
The Dubbo players and their NSW side sits fourth after four matches and finishes the pool matches with games against South Australia and Tasmania on Friday.
