The Tigers sit on top of the ladder, unbeaten after two matches, while the Hornets are second from bottom having once just once from three games this season.
The two are scheduled to clash from 6.30pm at No 1 Oval on Friday but with late storms predicted to hit Dubbo at that time, the big-hitting Twenty20 action is in doubt.
If the match is to go ahead, the Tigers will be out to maintain their perfect record.
Newtown’s side has beaten both the Bob Berry Blasters and Christies Crackerjacks so far this summer, showcasing all-round capabilities in both victories.
In the first win, four different players made at least 30 in a total of 158 against the Blasters before a number of bowlers chipped in to seal a 33-run win.
In the win over the Crackerjacks, the Tigers eased to victory after bowling Macquarie’s men out for just 115.
The Hornets opened their campaign with a solid win over the Western Plains Automotice Cougars before a Jordan Moran century condemned them to a heavy nine-wicket loss to Rugby.
Play starts 6.30pm.
