Fire & Rescue NSW was called to a property in Dubbo’s east about 8am.
The occupants of the Myall Street house, including small children, safely evacuated, the service said in a post to its Dubbo Fire Station Facebook page.
A male occupant attempted to extinguish the fire with the assistance of an off-duty retained firefighter from Dubbo Fire Station.
The male occupant was treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation.
“Whilst the cause of the fire is under investigation, we are asking people to turn off washing machines and other non essential electrical appliances at the power point when not in use,” Fire & Rescue NSW said in the post.
