The side, containing Dubbo’s Emma Corcoran, Phoebe Bloink Hollier and Courtney Hogan, began its campaign on Tuesday afternoon and despite taking the lead three times against Queensland, had to settle for 3-all draw.
The Corcoran-captained side led early on before going into the half time break at 1-all but the Blues got back in front early in the second stanza when Georgie Radcliffe struck from open play.
Again Queensland struck back to make it all square but then NSW edged itself in front again when Kelsey Hughes, a teammate of Corcoran in the title winning NSW under-21s side, scored from a penalty corner.
But the lead didn’t last long and the sides finished with a share of the points.
On Wednesday morning, NSW met Victoria and a poor first half showing led to a 3-2 defeat.
The Victorians struck twice to lead 2-0 at half time but Orange star Chloe Barrett dragged one back for NSW shortly after the break.
The Blues went on the hunt for an equaliser but it wasn’t to be as Victoria scored again to restore their two goal buffer.
Corcoran struck in injury time from a penalty corner but it was just a consolation strike. The win moved the unbeaten Victoria to the top of the ladder.
The NSW side played the ACT on Wednesday night before resuming on Thursday against Western Australia at 12pm.
