Hansen Yuncken Pty Ltd has won the tender to construct another floor on Dubbo Hospital’s clinical services building, opened in January 2016 by NSW Premier Mike Baird
At the same time the company will be working on the $1.85 billion new Royal Adelaide Hospital. “The scale of new Royal Adelaide Hospital cannot be underemphasised: the largest hospital ever undertaken in Australia, and the single largest infrastructure project undertaken in South Australia’s history,” Hansen Yuncken reports on its website.
The company is “completing $4 billion in projects” in the health sector including the $167 million stage two and three redevelopment of Wagga Wagga Base Hospital. Its finalised projects include the $52 million Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre and the $248 million Orange Hospital.
State Member for Dubbo Troy Grant announced the awarding of the tender to Hansen Yuncken for the extra floor on the clinical services building, the showpiece of the $91.3 million stage one and two redevelopment of Dubbo Hospital.
He said construction would begin “in the next few weeks” on the new floor that will house an inpatient unit. “Work will also begin to refurbish the old maternity building for the medical records department and education facilities,” Mr Grant said.
In November 2016 NSW Health Minister Jillian Skinner and Mr Grant took part in the unveiling of the schematic design and artist impressions of the $150 million stage three and four redevelopment that they confirmed would include an integrated cancer centre.
It will have its own budget, including $25 million from the federal government. The Western NSW Local Health District is currently developing a a clinical services statement for the new cancer centre.
Stage three and four redevelopment will also deliver a new building featuring an emergency department and “critical care floor”, along with more car parks and a new entry and drop-off zone.
