This year, it finally paid off. Mr Herron was the winner of the trailer full of more than $6,000 in prizes.
“I won a clock quite a few years ago. This is much bigger than a clock,” Mr Herron said.
The Dubbo resident said he had purchased about eight tickets this year. It’s something Mr Herron said he had always done when he walked past the ticket sellers.
All together about 20,000 tickets were sold in the raffle, rotarian Paul Allan said, raising $40,000 for the rotary club.
“The money will be used to help out individuals primarily, as well as hospitals and anything else we think needs our assistance,” Mr Allan said.
Despite buying the tickets every year, Mr Herron said he still wasn’t expecting to win.
Mr Allan said the book buyers prize was also won by a deserving Dubbo resident, even though about 60 per cent of tickets were sold to people who weren’t from Dubbo.
