Mat Skinner’s Mac Inn Magics were 120-107 winners over Aidan Bennewith’s Suparangas in a topsy-turvy contest.
Suparangas batted first, and had the momentum for the most part of their innings. Bennewith and Steve Skinner scored 35, before Adam Richards and Mark Pulsford added 30. Mark McCauley made the only other meaningful contribution with 17 in the total of 107.
Dan Morris restricted the scoring of the Suparangas with 3/8.
Mac Inn started the run chase in extremely good fashion, with Mat Skinner (34) and Wade Burrowes (28) laying the platform for what turned out to be a comfortable chase. Adam Richards bowled without luck taking 1/26, while Mark McCauley completed a good all round game with 4/10.
In the other match, Tom Barber’s CCC Crushers made a huge statement with the bat in the opening 10 overs in the clash with Adlai Shipp’s Young Guns. But from there it was all the Young Guns as they won in a great chase.
Tim Howarth (36) and Nick Crawford (16), posted 52 for the first pair, while the second pair dominated as well with 62 from Lewis Matthews (36) and Barber (26).
Young Guns clawed their way back into it with some great bowling, with Josh Wright (4/-9) and Mitch Russo (4/10) doing the damage.
Dan Holland and Adlai Shipp started the run chase with 35, before Russo brothers, Mitch (21) and Chris (26) scored 47 to give them a sniff.
Josh Wright and Kyle Larance chanced their arm and scored 54, in a swashbuckling display of power.
The wickets were well shared for the CCC boys, with Matthews and Barber picking up three each, while Howarth, Crawford and Andy Walden picked up two each.
Mitch Grey and Jeff Burrowes completed the run chase with a determined 16, to give the Young Guns a great win.
