Lachlan's left arm quick Antonia Curtale bowled well to pick up two quick wickets to have Macquarie in some spot of bother at 2 for 9. Darney took charge from there and scored a brisk 26 before getting run out.
This brought all-rounder Amy Hart to the crease and she smashed the Lachlan bowlers to all parts of the ground for a quick fire 64 not out. Amy was ably assisted by stylish stroke player Leah Robins who scored 15 runs and ever-so-solid and reliable Jasmine Bansal who scored 12 runs. Macquarie Valley finished with a score of 8-176 in their allotted 40 overs.
For Lachlan, Curtale was easily the best bowler with impressive figures of 3-22 off her eight overs. Lachlan needed a strong opening stand to have any hope of chasing down Macquarie's big total. Their hopes were soon dashed by opening quick bowler Leah Robins who took a wicket off the fifth ball of her first over. Shannon Thompson and Clare Hunt started to build a good partnership to take Lachlan out of trouble but Taylor Wood and Amy Hart had other ideas.
Bowling with a classic spinner's action Taylor Wood took two wickets and quick Amy Hart took another three wickets to have Lachlan reeling at 7-36.
Lachlan never recovered and were ultimately bowled out for 61 to give Macquarie a huge victory by 115 runs. Macquarie's all-rounder Amy Hart was the player of the match with a hard hitting 64 not out and three wickets off four overs.
