Mick Peet travelled from Bundaberg to Dubbo on Wednesday and wasted no time heading to Butlers Falls, where a femur bone belonging to Lateesha was discovered last month.
His arrival came as police found more bones and bone fragments where the initial find occurred.
They were being taken away for examination by a forensic pathologist and anthropologist to determine if they were human.
If they are human bones, DNA testing and other analysis will be used to determine if they belong to Ms Nolan.
“When I flew from Brisbane I couldn't stop thinking about Lateesha and how much of a bubbly girl she was,” he said.
“And to lose her life at a beautiful spot like Butlers Falls where we used to go boating and fishing and swimming, changed my thoughts about the place.
“I haven't had much sleep. I had about an hour of sleep last night [Tuesday night] and not much sleep the night before. I was thinking about what they are going to find out there.”
It has been four years since Mick was in Dubbo and on Wednesday, he was able to visit the memorial that was opened on January 5 last year, 10 years after she was murdered.
“I’ve seen plenty of photos and had some lovely friends put flowers on there for me but it’s nice to see it is well looked after,” he said.
“It’s a beautiful spot. It was hard to picture what it was like but it is a beautiful spot and I feel Lateesha would be looking down and saying she likes the area.”
On Tuesday police from the State Crime Command and Orana Local Area Command began a thorough search of the area around Butlers Falls.
It involved a line search of the bank of the Macquarie River at Butlers Falls while an excavator was also being used to dig up parts of the river bank.
Mr Peet said police had indicated the search would continue at least until Friday.
He said once the search was over, he hoped to farewell Lateesha properly and move forward with his life after a decade of grief.
