Free training clinics will be held at both the Dubbo and Bathurst aquatic centres next month, where national representatives will pass one some tips and help those in regional areas get into the sport.
There will be dry land games, water polo drills, games and swimming relays before a Q&A with Australian Olympic players Lea Yanitsas and Richie Campbell, who both competed at the Rio Games earlier this year.
Water Polo NSW community development coordinator Chris Batty will look to have as many participants to come along as possible.
“We can accommodate at least 80 students, but we’re targeting up to 100 to come along,” he said.
“Water polo is quite a new sport with little momentum, but it is slowly growing.
“We’re looking to promote a sport that is fun and exciting. It is also one of the safer sports, that caters to all ages.”
The seminar will be held on December 21 at Dubbo, starting from 7.45am with a meet and greet with the coaches. Participants will also receive a gift pack, which includes a water polo ball, drink bottle and more.
