Locals are again being encouraged to take part in the Russo’s Coffee Bar Christmas lid competition.
Russo’s Coffee Bar in Blue Ridge Business Park, Dubbo, last year arranged a competition where by the customers were encouraged to decorate a standard take-away coffee lid and transform it into a Christmas themed piece of art.
After surprising success, with over 20 entries coming in, they have decided to hold it again, but in 2016 there is a twist.
“This year we are bringing this competition back,” Jono Russo said.
“In hopes to improve this year’s competition Russo’s Coffee Bar have changed it up a little bit and have announced a $1 entry fee ($1 – per lid) in which the money raised will be donated to a selected charity chosen by Russo’s.”
Stumbling upon the Royal Flying Doctor Service and realizing the tremendous work that they do that is often not seen, Russo’s Coffee Bar will be donating 100 per cent of the money raised to the Dubbo sector of the Royal Flying Doctor Service to allow them to continue doing the amazing work that they are doing.
Jono said he was amazed at the amount of support and entries for the competition.
“The community spirit and support which we have seen for this competition has been incredible. We have several locally owned businesses in the Blue Ridge Business Park which will be supporting the competition by matching dollar for dollar the amount raised,” he said.
“Businesses including, Geoff Richards Panel Beating, Strathbrook Regional Services Dubbo, Cross Fit Dubbo and more.”
If you’d like to enter, there are a few things you need to know – It is $1 per entry (1 lid). Lids must be at the base of the design, and must be decorated with a Christmas theme. There are no limits to how many times you enter.
Entries must be returned to either one of the Russo’s Coffee Bar shops before Wednesday, December 23 for judging to commence the next day. First place will win 10 free coffees. Second place will take home 5 free coffees and third place 3 free coffees.
With the competition now open, Jono from the Blueridge shop and Lara Russo from west Dubbo Russo’s Coffee Bar have already received a number of entries.
Jono said if the event continues its popular run it will hopefully be something they hold every year.
“Maybe we’ll even change it for different events throughout the year, like Easter and Valentine’s Day,” he said.
Jono said he has been humbled by the amount of support the competition has already received.
“Our customers have been amazing in getting behind this. I don’t know what we’d do without them,” he said.
