The Dubbo Harness Racing Club is holding a gymkhana from 6pm on Saturday to raise funds for local industry member Kyle Barnes, who has recently been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
“He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer three months ago and it’s very hard to see him this way especially because he was driving horses in races just five months ago,” Barnes’ daughter Kylie said to Harness Racing NSW recently.

“All support is appreciated and if people do donate money online please put your first and last name on the donation so we know who has donated.”
The aim of the night is to makes things a bit easier for Kyle and his family and there is set to be a huge number of attractions on offer.
As well as barbecue and bar providing food and drinks, there will be face painting and clown appearance for the young ones, as well as some mini trotters racing.
Those minis will also stay around to allow the children the chance to pat them.
There will also be 100 clubs running on the night, raffles being held and even a foot race and dash for cash but the main attraction will be the auction.
In the offer there will be things like tools, mowers and a kid’s motorbike but there will also be some hugely exciting items such as the memorabilia provided by Trevor at Strictly Limited Framing and Memorabilia.
His items include a Peter Brock, Craig Lowndes and Greg Murphy Bathurst 1996 piece as well as framed pieces featuring Jason Bright, Rick Kelly, Glen McGrath, The Don, Steve Waugh, Daniel Geale and Anthony Mundine, Ian Thorpe, Sea Eagles: The Premiership Years, Penrith Panthers Premiers 2003, Dragons Lair Premiers, Bulldog Legends, Wally Lewis and Mark Geyer and much more.
For the harness racing fans, there will be professional photography vouchers from Amy Louise Photography & Design and Coffee Photography and Framing up for grabs as well as Garrard’s horse and hound vouchers.
Those prizes are just a small taste of the huge amount on offer on Saturday night, with the community urged to get out and help support Barnes and his family.
